About Yaffa Cheryl Schindler, Ph.D.
Yaffa is a Scientific Advisor in the Life Sciences Practice Group of PCZL’s New York office. She has experience in patent drafting and worldwide patent prosecution in the Life Sciences arena, as well as in infringement, validity, and patentability opinions; licensing matters; and European patent opposition proceedings. Her patent procurement expertise is in the fields of microbiology, immunology, biochemistry, molecular biology, cellular and developmental biology, and bioinformatics.
Prior to joining PCZL, Yaffa worked as a scientific/patent editor at Rosetta Genomics, an Israeli-based company developing bioinformatic tools for microRNA gene detection. She also worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Gal Yadid at Bar-Ilan University, investigating novel roles for specific neurochemicals and neurotransmitter receptors in drug-seeking behavior and in depression in a rat model. Prior to that, she worked as a research assistant studying the influence of female steroid hormones on memory and sexual behavior and on the neurotransmitters involved in those behaviors using HPLC and behavioral techniques. During her graduate studies, Yaffa was editor-in-chief of the peer-reviewed scientific journal, The Einstein Quarterly Journal of Biology and Medicine.
