About Hao (Heidi) Li, Ph.D.
Hao (Heidi) is an Associate in the Life Sciences Group of PCZL’s New York office. Her practice focuses on U.S. and foreign patent preparation and prosecution in the areas of chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology, including small molecules, polymers, chemical processes, methods of treatment, food additives, drug delivery compositions, coating materials, and RNAi technology. She also has in-depth experience in freedom-to-operate searches and analyses, patentability studies, and due diligence evaluations of patent portfolios.
Heidi was an associate at Fish & Richardson from 2006 to 2009. Prior to commencing her legal career, Heidi acquired over six years of professional experience as a medicinal chemist at Synta Pharmaceuticals, where she specialized in designing and synthesizing small molecule compounds as potential therapeutic agents for cancer, diabetes, and inflammation diseases. One of her compounds was selected for clinical trials. She received the “Shionogi Recognition Award” for excellent research, and is a named inventor on more than ten patents/patent applications.
Heidi earned her Ph.D. in the areas of heterocyclic chemistry and carbohydrate chemistry from New York University, where she recieved the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award. Heidi is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
